What sort of info are you looking for? Info on applying? Benefits? Everything? I know that if you go down to the SS office near you that they'll have someone help you fill out the forms and such. It takes up to 6 months to find out if you are accepted for disability. They retro-pay you for all months that you are found to be disabled though. There's a lot more, but I don't know exactly what you wanted to know.

I guess everything... my mom is a paralegal and will help me... she got hers on the first try... she did all the work herself...but hers is not mental... I guess I'm just nervous about it...... I have been out of work since 2003... I know I can not recoup all the years, but I'm afraid that I will not qualify because of not working enough... I heard of a benefit for people like me.... or can I draw off my husband?

I am on disability. There is so much information and it is all confusing. The best thing to do is to get an attorney or talk to your mom. She has been through the process before and being a paralegal probably will understand things a little bit better. The website has a lot of valuable information on it as well.

1.Apply for SSDI ( u can do this on line w a printer ) Name & no of your Dr's & list of your meds.
2. obtain an atty at 25% to handle your case.
No out of pocket fees. atty will get paid 25% of settlement,#4,when you apprear in persons w your atty and Judge deems that your disabled.
3. State might have you evalurated. no big deal.
It is important that you keep you pdoc appts.

Am not sure but I think that person who had DDSI can not work more than 3 1/2 days per mo.

It took me 10yrs.
It normally take 6 mo's - 3 yrs to be approved. To run - wait - jump though loops, wait and adventually start recieveing mo to mo paymts. Bk pay being the ti=ime in which you 1st applied.

Oh ya, it is normal - part of the dance to be denied. It is imported to appeal a denial faster than asap. You atty will do that for you.

Am not sure but benifits is based on wages that you where paid at your last job (?)
your atty will know.

Obtain an atty who mostly handles SSD & SSDI cases, at 25%,k. ( they all handle 1 or 2 during thier carrers but you want someone who knows the ropes and has proven record of win cases.

6 yrs w/o income. I used my savings and credit to support myself - to have & keep a roof over my head & food on the table.

If you have rent recite and photo ID you can apply on line for food assistance.
I wish I had know about food assistance program when I was unemployed & danceing w DSS.

Did you know that state will pay a family member to care for a family member ?
For you Mom, there is also a program that's called imtitlement. They can assist her in getting 2 wks at time 3 meals per day delived to her. and in home care service that will moniture her health.
Thur in home care service thur entitlement program they also can furnish a house jeeper who will come in once a wk.

Your Mother may be entitle to State medical card or medicaid.

after you obtain SSDI you are entitle to food assistance,medicaid and said meal delieverys & cleaning service.

Thanks guys for all the info.... my worry is that I have not worked since 2003 when I had my first breakdown... I really didn't know until recently that you could apply with mental problems... I don't know about the work credits....

Interesting thing is that a commercial for disability benefits from social security just came on. My father just went into the SS office and they helped him apply for disability. He has a physical and mental disability.
