I only writing this because I was thinking about my last visit to my psychologist. I currently see a psychiatrist most every week. Out sessions last an hour and they are very "down to bussiness" and he pushes me around and gives me a hard time. It's like work. But back to the psychologist thing. It's just like you see in the movies. The psychologist sitting there with a caring look, offering some advice and encouragement. I'm just sick of that. I never really came to any sort of conclusion or epiphany with her. Half the time I was just waiting for the clock to run out. I really shouldn't be called special either because everyone is special, meaning we're all pretty much the same. I give up on my psychologist although I do like her as a person and I miss seeing her (sometimes).

" What are you looking for from your psychologist? Do you have any goals or are just using her as a social hour? There are many different approaches used in therapy, talk therapy, behavior modification etc. In order for your therapy to be effective you have to have a plan and follow it. You need to have some goals and a strategy. "

" I would suggest Cognitive Therapy. It is fullfilling and you will learn a lot. I think everyine should go through it. You never feel like you are wasting time. "

" If your therapist is not providing you with productive therapy then she isnt right for you. Mine works with me, shows sympathy when warranted, but gets down to business most of the time. It is why I have come so far and learned so much. There is a right fit out there for you, you just have to find them. Hugs "

" I agree w/#2. Therapy without tools can be pointless and exasperating. Though it is useful to have a support system.

But I would feel stupid if someone told me I was special! "
