RKB, my great great grandfather also came here to escape religious persecution in what was Prussia and is now Kaliningrad, Russia. He actually joined the merchant marine and jumped ship to come here. So very little is known about that side of the family and records are no where to be found.

Another Texan here, though I now live in Co. Born in Baytown Texas. My father is a veteran of ww2 and spent most of his time in Germany. My brother was a green berets(however it's spelled) My family has put in their dues to keep this land free.

F*** the F***ing fouth of July....everything bad in my life happened on the fourth of july, including my disasterous wedding that ruined my life.

But America... I'll just say I'm glad to be born here so I had the right to divorce that SOB! Disability checks help too.

Lots of good things to say about America. My favorite things about this country are our amazing wild places, Yellowstone, Yosemite, the Bob Marshall Wilderness, Big Bend, etc. This Fourth, I'll celebrate the fact that we were smart enough to save some bits of our wild heritage.

I like (love) the US, it's culture, people ..have lived there too. Like a lot of countries, really. :) Don't much like OTT breast beating patriotism taken to extremes though.

I love our American history, 200 years of fighting and struggle to build a great nation. I love the strength and courage it took our founding fathers and patriots to free themselves and build our country. The perseverance and character it took for the pioneers to travel west searching for a better life for themselves and their families. We are a strong nation and through the ups and downs we stand together.

Happy Birthday America... homeof the free and the brave. Thank you, all who are serving andhave served, so we can maintain our freedom.

Sorry to be a downer, but i have a great deal of issues as an american. sure we have certain privelleges, but even as a vegetarian, i have beef. (sorry couldnt help it)
it probably is due to our current state, and i am sure it doesnt have to be this bad.
i am from illinois, and as of july first i lost my therapist, and can no longer receive a reduced fee for my psychiatrist because of the funding cut for health services. i am unemployed, and dont qualify for any aid, actively looking for a job, and feeling quite hopeless.

But I am greatful for religious freedoms, to be surounded by diversity, and my person freedoms that i still have, and hope to continue to have.
Maybe its cause I am young, and just havent seen the greatness of america that most mature adults have seen, yet.

Saying more nice things about America...

I suppose the first thing that comes to mind is the freedom to have my own opinion and to voice it without being arrested or worse......
