Chantix

Anybody on Chantix? I've had some interesting experiences with it. On the plus side, my smoking is all but gone and it has a strong anti-depressant effect. On the negative side, I've gained 8lbs in two days! No joke! I feel like I could give birth. It's all water but I know it's the Chantix because when I went off and after a long sleep my weight came off too! It's maddening!

" The other day somebody else on here was talking about Chantix and major weight gain. It must be common because people agreed with the person posting. "

" Think there was something in the paper-that there is going to be a warning in the packet because there's been a lot of incidence of psychiatric disturbance or something. Didn't sound good. "

" I'm a hopeless chewer of tobacco. I know, I know. It's disgusting. But, I would gladly gain 10lbs if it meant I no longer needed nicotine.
Anyone know first or second hand of any adverse side effects? "

" I feel like it had good anti-depressant effects. But that could be coincidence. I don't know. At any rate, it's hard to tell with the mood cycles of bipolars. I think I'm feeling well because I'm free from a very bad relationship. I'm finally healed. I really think that's it. The med is a coincidence. "

" Saw on the TV that there are class action suits on it.

Not sure why. Suicide I think due to the anti-depressant in it "

" Yes, there has been increased incidences of suicide with the use of Chantix. My doctor was a big advocate for Chantix, he prescribed it to everyone. He will hardly prescribe it now and WILL NOT give it to me. It must be a big risk. "

" Yes, there is a class action suit against the makers of Chantix.

But, there is probably a class action suite against everything.

My doc gave me an RX but told me not to try now because of a lot of other stressors. He's right. I am sssooo stressed that I'd probbly forget to take the pill. "

" I've been a smoker for 20 plus years and last April I started Chantix to help me quit smoking and it did the trick I did stop smoking but went into a very dark deep depression. Though I have had problems with depression for about 2 yrs now and take Lexapro daily, I began to have sicucidal thoughts to the point of wondering what the best way to do it would be. I couldn't figure out what was wrong with me. I thought it was the nicitione withdrawal. I finally couldn't stand it anymore after about 3 months and started smoking again, which made me feel like a failure which worsen my depression. Finally I came off the Chantix and my moods stabilized in about a month. I'm now right back to smoking but feel like dying with cancer will be a better fate than killing myself. I just can't beat the cigarette habit. But I know from my personal experience not to try chantix anymore. "
