MY meds need to be refilled and i have 2 of them that are $40 a piece and the rest are $10. How do i ask my pdoc to find me a cheaper med.... it shouldnt be all about the $$ but unfortunatly that is what has become of our health care.
so i am running between $120-$130 just for meds my hiubby says that i DONT need meds that they are a crutch. NICE..he gets so upset when i need new meds i hate to tell him i am out.
The prob is we have a gas bill due or they will shut us off.. so its a choice between meds and gas.MY hubby is afraid that his shop is going to close and that NOBODY will pick me up on insurance. This cant be...the prob is we make too much $ (barely) for assistance and not enough to cover expenses.i used to get samples but they quit doing that with the co that have the $4 plan but they dont realise that not ALL the drugs are on that list. argh...

" I have the same problem. I make a few dollars more than the cap on all the other programs for financial asst. The insurance I have is costing me an arm and a leg. Last time I took a new script to get it filled, Abilify, the copay was $87.00.
The COPAY. so I didn't get it filled.
I used to get free meds from the manufacturers, but then I got married.
Don't they realize that married couples have financial problems, as well? "

" Your husband is wrong!!! Man... Your post hits me to the core!

I can't afford my meds right now either.

Ideas:

1. Many med companies offer cheaper meds for those of us who can't affort to pay full price.

2. Your husband is in serious need of further education. Without my meds I'd be dead...period!!! Your health is a first priority and it is his responsibility to help you and take care of you.

He needs to remember the "in sickness and in health bit"!!!!! Where is his compassion?

3. Please for me, call your pdoc's office today!!! and tell him of your problems. They often have samples to gice away.

4. Many community clinics offer free or sliding scale meds based upon need. Hey wing, what county and town do you live in?

If you'd like, I'll do a web search to find a clinic near you...

4. Montel Williams, the tv personality, has a charity that provides meds to folks who cant afford them.

I couldn't find the exact site for this, but email his show:

" Nothing wrong with a crutch if you have a broken leg.

You're husband needs a clear dose of reality. Just be upfront with your Pdoc. The immediate issue is that you can't just go cold turkey off these things. And it can take a while to find another med that is suitable for you.

I agree with the previous posters, catholic charities, salvation army, etc. Places like this if you bring a copy of your bills to will do a one time donation to your family to help you out. It's better than nothing.

Your health is more important that heat IMO. "

" I went to my doc and requested changes to generics that I could afford. There are generic options that will be affordable for you. The drug companies want you to think that only the new drugs work. This is how they make money. Many of the older generics work just as well as the newer name brands. If you can't get them all switched, ask for more samples. Its a bit embarrasing, but you need your meds and you need heat right? Once I switched to the generics, I only paid $30/month total for all my scripts. "

" I did a google search for mental health services in Hillsdale County, Mi. I found the following. Call them and your PDOC and ask about help with paying for your meds.

" Also, I buy my meds online through a canadian pharmacy. It takes a while to get my meds, but my lamictal is about half the price of what I can get it for here in the US. Man, do we take care of our own or what???? Calm down Free....

I can get generic Lamictal there. "

" I just posted this up in the treament category too. Your husband is so WRONG about meds being a crutch! Like insulin is a crutch to a diabetic! Freeheeler is RIGHT!

Affordable prescription drug program at Walmart. Target has basically the same one. Take the list to your pdoc if costs are keeping you from taking your meds, see if any of these can address your condition!
