Does anyone else worry about getting older, madder, poorer cos in the UK it seems the pension age recedes ahead of us like the tide and benefits for the old and sick are being cut back harder. Scares the bejazzers out of me.

" Well I am on Disability thru Social Security in the US. I get a small stipend and medicare and medicaid. It works for me. It takes care of my medical bills and scripts. Can't complain. "

" Living in the US with the current health care problems, the whole thing terrifies me. I worry about just aging with bp. It seems I get slower and more incapable of making decisions as I age. Instead of getting wiser, I feel I am regressing back to infancy. BP and what it is doing to my mind scares me. "

" I find myself looking other directions. I do not know the future, but I cannot seem to muster much faith in anything that includes bureaucracy, public or private. So far, anyway. Repeat: I do not know the future.

Am I afraid of it?

I like to treat my fear like a separate entity. Sneaky bug can attach itself to anything. "

" I'd be happy as hell to get old, what with all the suicidal ideation I have now and then

But I hear what you're saying about being afraid and pissed off by the government! "

" I am on disability in the US. I know that they revisit your eligibility for it every few years. That fact unnerves me to a degree. What if I get worse but a beaurocrat(sp?) decides I don't need it anymore!? But growing old with it, I really haven't devoted too much thought to it - aside from knowing my social circle and relatives are slowly going away. I fear the loneliness of old age more than anything. I really hope that won't be the case - but yeah I find my illness has made me more afraid of the upcoming isolation a bigger fear. I "get" where you are coming from Jagiello though, the future and the limited resources I am coping with makes me wonder how I am going to manage it. "

" What I find wonderful about being British is that there's always something I can find to complain about. It keeps me going. Hopefully, until tomorrow.I wrote a song called " Cameron's A Cunt ". "

" I am terrified of what will happen here in the US since I am just 26 and I don't see myself ever being able to work, at least not more than part-time. Maybe about 10 hours a week at most if I am ever lucky enough. But highly doubtful what with the biplolar, autism, anxiety, PTSD, fibromylaiga, arthritis, and other pain issues :(.

I don't know what I would do without the monthly check despite it being so small and the medicaid. Medicaid I def cannot live without!! "
