Advice:
Lithium and thyroid & Lamictal use

I'm currently taking valproate 400mg am & pm. Also 45mg Remeron & 200mg seroquel. Saw my psych yesterday. Asked his thoughts on trying lithium as my brother has seemed to have better succes on that as opposed to valproate. My moods are more stable than what they were, but it's kind of like my moods are stabilised a bit too low for my liking.
Anyway, doc has sent me for blood tests first & has advised me that it can cause thyroid to become underactve, & moreso in women than men. I had to have medication for this problem about 8 years ago at which time I was on no other meds. Anyone have this experience.
Have also noticed a few of you talking about Lamictal. Googled it a bit & liked what I read. Again, any feedback from others on this would be much appreciated. Just can't seem to get myself on an even keel.

" I hear what you're saying about self research when it comes to medication. I do try to aim a fair bit towards medical/clinical notes etc. When I saw my psych last week he also told me to feel free to increase my seroquel up to 400mg if need be. I was on 200mg am & pm after I was in hospital in April, but it made me too drowsy. Went up to 300mg pm last week & am actually scared to say it....think I'm noticing a difference. Then again, I've had a smooth week with nothing that has really tested my coping skills. I hate that fear of am I feeling ok or is just a passing phase, cause usually that's all it is! Worried if I tell doc all this, he'll think I don't need to see him again "
