I take over the counter Alterel and it really works for me, I also take Lexapro and Trazadone....check with your doc and see if this is good for you, its about $15.00 a month for the Alterel and I just love it

i'm sorry mandi...i have never been on either of them...all i know is that for me....it's zyprexa the whole way as far as when i can't sleep.....i take it, actually i that is one of my daily meds now.....helps me keep from getting real manic..and also, helps me sleep....peace 4 u, love, maggie

From what I know about tegretol it is a mood stabilizer only. I do not believe it has any sleep-aid qualities.

I hope you get some relief soon - sleep so key to health and stability.

tegretol gave me horrible, vivid nightmares. watch out of that one.

tegretol also gave me vivid dreams--while they weren't nightmares they were kinda freaky. i slept probably the best i had in ages on that med. now i just take over the counter melatonin and thats all i need.

yeah its just a mood stabiliser but can make you drowsy,
i had the weird dreams with remeron,
so will prob get them with this too!

effexor is the product of the devil and causes sleep problems for "special people".

You could try nytol or the boots equivalent..the antihistamine based one. It's non addictive and neither my GP or psychiatrist freaked when I told them I use it regularly. Beter than benzos or sleeping pills.
