I had a pdoc that I only used because he was in the same office as my talk doc. My meds work I feel 95% of time. I decided he was not for me and I needed real help but I am scared to switch meds, that screws me up so bad. I don't feel comfortable talking to my old pdoc and need a new one but don't just want to open the yellow pages. Does anyone have any advice or recommendations for getting a new pdoc?

" I had a friend who drove two hours every two weeks to see her p-doc. said he was the best she'd ever worked with and he also saw her teenage daughter. i don't remember his name but he worked out of mclean hospital http://mcleanhospital.org/
good luck! you might also want to check with your local dbsa and nami for recommendations. "

" I don't know where you live, but I'm in Central Mass and just love my pdoc. He takes no shit from me and doesn't let me cop to stuff just to end a conversation. And he's as eager to get my meds right than I am. Feel free to email me if you want his name. He has sort of limited hours at the moment since he's running an ect program and does other things, as well as be the medical director for the clinic I attend. But I swear by this guy. I'd like to find a therapist like him but I keep getting this mushy, kumbya singing types who want to talk about childhood and "how do I feel". Easier answers. I was a miseable kid and I feel shitty now. Let's skip the details and work on making me feel human. My pdoc is looking for the right therapist for me so I'm hoping I'll get to see someone like that soon. Not sure how messaging works here buy a personal email address of mine is emme854@yahoo.com. "
