" Me too. I think it works. especially if youre trying to semi detox yourself from the plethera of drugs. ( Ive been on at least 15) over the last 13 years. Good topic I think there should be more disscussion on this. "

" I have just started regular Omega-3 supplements (the gummy lemon ones SnarkyMe!). My mom bought them for me, along with a multi-vitamin and calcium. What are they actually for? Is it depression? I don't even know what changes to look for, but I am taking them, every day! "

" i take them too. i think my doc told me to take them when i was depressed and on wellbutrin. it was a replacement for the wellbutrin. i take 3 pills, i'm not sure how much that is, but i think its helped me since im not depressed anymore..... "

" Here are 2 excellent sites that explain Omega 3 and its beneficial affects on Bipolar. I've been using it for years in addition to my traditional meds. I don't know if it is a substitute and Can't say that I feel exactly what it does but it is inexpensive and can't hurt. I make sure my pdoc knows everything I am taking to prevent drug interactions.

" Personally, excessive use of omega3 brings me towards states of hypomania (I notice it within an hour). That is why I don't use fish oil anymore, and am moderate on salmon, nuts etc). So I guess it differs from person to person. It is not in all cases safe to use. "

" Too much omega 3 and cause mania - especially in conjunction with drugs like Effexor. Everyone just be aware and be careful! "

" I think it may help, but from the standpoint of people here who have had their lives devastated by bipolar disorder. I think this is a pretty unrealistic idea that eating a supplement from the grocery store can help us better than hundreds of dollars of psychoactive drugs.

My T-doc has recommended that I take these in addition to my normal meds. But both docs say it is just supplemental.

It is a bit delusional some of the claims people make about this stuff. I'm not saying I don't think it is helpful, but if this cures your bipolar disorder, then I question whether you were ever bipolar to begin with.

I see people on here every day on the brink of suicide and going through tough breakdowns who claim to eat very healthy. Mostly it seems they do way worse off medication. "
