MAYBE I'M JUST BEING PARANOID BUT, EVER SINCE I STARTED TAKING SEREQUIL I AM GETTING BIGGER AND BIGGER. MY WEIGHT IS ONE OF THE THINGS THAT I GET NERVOUS AND OBSESSIVE ABOUT. DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE THE SAME EFFECTS W THIS MED. OR DO YOU KNOW OF A MED THAT DOESNT HAVE THE SAME EFFECT?

" Igained a lot of weight on antipsychotics. Buut it is possible to lose it with healthy eating and exercise. PersonallyI found weightwatchers helpful. I lost 70 lbs then went back into hospital and put 25 back onwhich I am trying to lose and quit smokiing at the same time. Love and hugs, Md2. "

" I am getting tired of hearing everyone talk about their experiences with the weight gain/loss of the meds. I have tried them all, and most of the time was on at least 3 or 4 at a time. I have bp1/mixed. I gained, then lost and vice-versa. I still ended up hospitalized or close to it. Now I receive ECT monthly and maintenance Lamictal and Abilify if I remember to take them as they all cause memory loss. and Add that with ECT I don't even know how much I weigh, only how my clothes fit tells me. Most of the meds I couldn't take or tolerate long enough to know about the weight thing, but Depakote made me eat everything in my kitchen but the sink. I went to see my pdoc and threw the samples on his desk! "

" I am very frustrated withmy weight gain on seroquel. I have increased 3 sizes (at least) while following a very healthy diet, cardio excersize daily and yoga 3 times per week. Seroquel makes me feel like I'm starving. I broke down last week and called my pdoc for an
appointment. I am currently on 400 mg of lamictal and 300 mg seroquel XR daily. Would switching to topomax and go off the seoquel work, or should topomax be added to the mix? "

" I have been on Lamictal 400 mg per day and seroquel XR 300 mg per day. I have gained at least 3 sizes despite decreasing daily calories, doing cardio excersize daily and yoga 3 times per week. I am not reaping the rewards of my lifestyle, it just keeps getting worse. I broke down finally and am going to see my pdoc today. Should I go off seroquel and ask to be put on topomax? What will help me to sleep at night other than seroqel and not have weight gaining side effect. "

Get off seroquel and take topomax or add topomax to the mix? I'll let you know of the next step that my pdoc and I have come up with. "
