I am currently taking 100mg of lamictal and 2mg of abilify.
I was on these medications when i was 15 for two years, coupled with lithium and adderall. Then I was off of them, not I am back on, but only lamictal and abilify. After two months I started noticing new, extreme, and terrifying side effects. I tried to get a hold of my pdoc, but the soonest i cant see her is august 06. I dont have a primary doc, or insurance. The scary side effects are: -frequent urination ( to a bothersome extent ) -noticably increased appetite ( i eat very healthy ) -extreme fatigue, even with plently or rest & exercise. -weakness, and dizziness I have never felt all these before in my life. But after research I came across a side effect of abilify that i wasnt aware of. Diabetes. Now I am very paranoid, and not sure if i am irrational to be freaking out about this. It just seems so obvious, as those are all begining signs of diabetes. But could it just be that i so happened to get these symptoms for both lamictal, and abilify, and stress, or other factors? Or is it pretty obvious that something serious is going on? I am really scared, and could use any info, or advice to ease my mind. I am mostly concerned because I have to deal with this for another month before I am able to do anything!! HELP!! Posted on 07/04/09, 03:07 am |

Are you losing weight? Do you have frequent thirst? I doubt it is diabetes. I'm on 30mgs of Abilify and I have no side effects from it. I wouldn't be too worried. The pharmaceutical companies have to list a lot of things to practice CYA (cover your ass) for legal reasons. Diabetes is very, very rare on Abilify and it is usually for people who gain copious amounts of weight and have onset because of that. I wouldn't worry about it. The urination and fatigue and weakness sounds like lithium. You might need a tweak. Get your blood levels checked. The increased appetite could be both the Abilify and lithium. Dizziness sounds like lithium as well. Don't panic. Wait until you get your lithium blood levels back. Meantime, drink plenty of water and stay out of the sun.
