Hello...I only eat about 8-900 calories a day and my doctor does not want me to decrease anymore. But geez, that only maintains my weight and I do feel hungry. This is a tpugh one cause the medications are the culprit I know it. It makes this topic a really tough one for me and doesn't help my self esteem. I wonder what other people do with this and how they handle not liking what they see in the mirror versus the need to take the meds that keep them functioning mentally

" I maybe eat 500 calories a day and most of that is liquid, I just never have an appetite. And my pdoc stays on my case because without proper nutrition my meds don't metabolize, blah, blah, blah. But what he doesn't understand is of the 13 meds that I take a day some wipe out my appetite, which others gain weight. Also the thing my pdoc doesn't completely get is that I also self injure and if I look in that mirrow and see more of a fat person, then it makes me want to cut myself even more!!!! Personally I'm just incredibly tired of all of it. "

" 900 calories a day is not enough!! Your body is in STARVATION MODE and is storing all you eat as fat. I know this for a fact. eat 5 times a day and total no less than 1300 calories per day. this will boost your metabolism and dont forget to work out. walk, run, jumping jacks, whatever works for you. but eating that little is why you're gaining fat. The meds are a culprit too but that can be adjusted with a good b complex vitamin, magnesium, and healthy choices for food.

I feel for you because I am going through that as well. I found that if I eat 5 or 6 times a day, It started working for me. I exercise minimum 3 times per week.

Breakfast smoothie with frozen fruit, water, yogurt, spinach(i know it sounds gross but you wont even taste it) and a tablespoon of almond butter. not peanut butter as its the bad fat.

snack fruit and a handful of nuts or seeds

lunch salad, protein, starch. (spinach salad, chicken breast and brown rice)

snack fruit , raw vegetables, granola, etc

dinner protein, vegetable, starch

snack fruit, or cereal.

I dont eat any processed foods, none of those lean cuisines, or other frozen dinners, fast food is OUT. If I didnt make it from scratch, I dont eat it.

The diet takes getting used to as I couldnt think I could eat that much food, but its low calories, healthy and the weight is coming off.

Just my thoughts as I have been fighting this for years and something is finally working. "

I just dont like stuffing myself w 3 fairly lrg meals per day and feeling hungery late evening and at night. Iv always been a vegitarian. however due to my meds I have rapit weight gain and as a test I found that I half to eat 500 cals per day just to maintain weight level. --During that very unhealthy test I continued to take muti vit but I also added 1 can of ensure per day to the dite.

The benifits of my meds - will I dont want to alter nor change meds.

There maybe meds that are very similar to ones that we take that are not associated w weight gain.
I just dont know why there is not an over the counter med - compound that is in slim shot that would assist with weight lose.

I guess we all are forced to adventually have lapo-band surgery. which does work ( my sister due stricky to her meds that cause weight problem that had began to cause other physical illness's and problems )

I even gained weight on: 1/2 slice of plain toast and banna in morning and 1/2 cup of maccrona salad w 4 crackers and 1/2 small pk of peanuts and, green salad w no dressing in evening and 30 unsalted stick prizzles at 7pm.

I even tryed for 2 wks just drinking broth from roman noodle soup pks and black coffee and 1/2 cup of org juice daily and I still gained weigh. I guess vit are fatting,lol.

Again some of these unhealthy dites that I tried where just test to see what would work.

I do not understand why our Drs will not give us something to counter med weigh gain.

80% of my weight is aroung my navel so in Sept I plan on having lipo surgery so I can see my navel and be able to wash it without need 2 hands to spread the fat so I can wash my navel. Oh ya I havent had children so I dont know why all fat centered around my navel.

I mainly wear my pjs because non of my cloths fit except for my dress's. my shorts, pants, skirts and even my undies no longer fit. That causes depression in itself. "

I have switched (slowly) from depakote to lamictal and abilify and have lost total 15 pounds and have 35 more I want to loose. I am hoping good eating and excercise along with the decrease in appetite will help. + I just started seeing an acupuncturist for both my fatigue and weight gain. I got some herbal pills that are supposed to be "draining" or help with weight loss. Wish me luck. I really would like to get back to my premed figure. Not perfect, but it would be SOOO much more appreciated than when I had it 10 years ago. It has been depressing not to like what I see in the mirror, especially the belly "

" l keep hearing about meds that are neutralisers for appetite l've never tried them but they seem to work for those on them. l was on depakote and put on a great deal of weight to l switched meds and the weight is coming off maybe l'm on one and l don't even know because l have no more craving for carbs or severe water retention and l feel full after a small meal instead of needing seconds.... "

Today when out at srtrip mall, I caught my refliction in store windows and will I stood still in ft of a store window and busted out crying. I cant stand this rapet weight gain thats due to meds. all my weight went around my navel and it looks like a dog thats had too many babys but is preg. I couldnt finish enjoy shopping, I had to rush home a take an anxiety med and jump bk into my baggy pjs.
my pjs are the only thing that fits.
weight gain and my appearance is so depressing in itself.

Gosh Katlyn, 13 pills is like a meal in itself,lol. my sister also has alot of meds that she takes. Currently am on 4 meds plus muti vit.. The vit is liken to horse pill.
I take vit at bed time for it seems to make me hungery and am to lazy to get up and rid the refg.. if your not on anxiety med you might opt to speak to your Dr about the benifits. Have you noticed that people who have BPolor and who are cutters have above average IQ's ? but I have CRS - can't remember shi--t,lol and darn those brain gliches that happen just when am talking w someone. "

I can't afford lapband otherwise I'd do it in a heart beat. So what do those of us who can't afford it are supposed to do?? "
