it was a good med, while i could be on it. the only thing it did that was not good was put me into early menapause. my regular physician then told my pdoc i couldnt be on it any longer. once off of it, i started my menses again.

It is good to me, but some drs. will try not to keep you on it long term due to tardive dyskinethia

Very first med they put my son on at age 7, gained 20 pounds in 2 months. I took him off of it. But, that was 10 years ago.

I HAVE BEEN ON RISPERDAL FOR ABOUT 5 YRS IT HAS HELPPED ME WHEN NOTHING ELSE WOULD. RISPERDAL IS A GOOD MED FOR SHORT TERM USE. LONG TERM IT HAS A LOT OF SIDE AFFTECTS LIKE:INVOLUNTARY MOVEMENTS OF THE FACE,HANDS AND OTHER PARTS OF THE BODY.IT AFFTECTS THE WAY YOU WALK. IT AFFTECTS ALL PEOPLE IN ABOUT THE SAME WAY WITH VERY LITTLE DIFF. I DIDN'T NOTICE ANYTHING FOR THE FIRST YR AFTER THAT IT STARTED SLOWLY. AFTER 5 YRS I GET A LOT OF LOOKS WHEN I GO TO THE STORE OR SOME PLACE IT GETS THAT BAD. I DON'T KNOW WHAT I CAN DO I NEED THE MEDS BECAUSE NOTHING ELSE HELPS. I THINK FOR THE FIRST YR YOU ARE O.K. YOU ALSO GAIN WT. I HOPE THIS HELPS. ROBERT

I have been on this drug twice. It caused me to have movements of my tongue(TD). I felt restless a lot as well as lactated. It was quite sedating the first time i went on it. HTH. Jacqui
