I've not heard of anyone gaining weight on Lamictal some lose weight, but it's generally weight neutral. As for self medicating with topamax you should know there are some severe side effects associated with this drug, such as neuropathic disabilities, severe memory loss, and kidney stones. There is no guarantee that you will lose weight with this drug especially if your're taking it for a second time, generally you do not lose weight if you are going back on it a second time.

i've now been on lamictal since january and probably been feeling the best i've been..no weight gain but no weight loss either, though i have been on a strict healthy diet... guess the weight i put on with carbamazpine is here to stay... stopped topamax as i got severe memory loss, just lived in the moment with no realy memory of my past plus it made me feel so hot, apparantly he heats the body up... so fat but a little bit more sane at the moment.

I haven't gained any weight on Lamictal. In fact, now that I am thinking about it...since I went off Lexapro and Valproic Acid a few weeks ago, I have pretty much lost my appetite and I am lucky if I eat once a day.

ive been losing weight, much to my happiness I'm on abilify, lamicatal and klonopin, any ideas which causes weight loss?
