So I was thinking today.....I've been on this site for 5 days, and on facebook for over a year. I thought my status updates were authentic over there, but now that I've got 600 friends on FB, I'm a little more cautious. If I post something wacky, I might get dropped or something, or at least talked about.
But here? Y'all don't care what I say from wacky manic to depressed to anywhere in between! I love it love it love it!! ☺ What an encouragement this group is! Posted on 10/10/09, 09:10 pm |

Face Book - Oh whoah is me..
I made the terrible mistake of linking wih my cousin who linked me with the rest of the clan who I do not associate with. Now they all know I have bipolar and I have now been ostracized basically. I have slowly bloked peole out and do not have fun anymore.

I have co-workers who are listed as friends on Facebook. They now know about my pregnancy loss. They know I was out in the summer, but they don't know why. I never posted anything on there about being bipolar.

Really why do you have 600 friends on facebook and are they your 'friends' be careful honey, we love you here but always be mindful did you know that your page appears on google go on google your name and see....., but me I don't care what others think I say and do as I please if they don't like it then thay can bugger off...... love you all

You can be as secure as you want on FB actually. I have very tight security settings on facebook. Only friends can search for me. I lived in 4 different places growing up and am 37, and am friendly, many of my 600 friends on there are just acquaintances, but some are lifelong friends. All I'm saying is I can't put a status like 'I'm manic' or 'the depression is getting me today' on there. But I could put it here. Because none of you all know me in my real world. The people on FB see me in the community, at church, work, etc, and I feel like I need to be filter what I say more because of that.

I have only told very close friends that I have bipolar. The only thing I have told anyone on facebook was that i have fibromyalgia. This is a much more secure place to share, because we are all going through similar problems and can empathize.
