** i posted a similar post several days ago - then got this new info. i'm honestly not even desperate anymore. i'm just done. i have looked into every single resource in the country.

i don't know how much longer i'll be there. i just found out my medication plan has a $3000 deductible. and another $3000 for my partner. i've never had a drug plan deductible.

and with their prices, btwn my partner and myself, they will rise from $475/month to, with new drug plan, AFTER deductible, to $2750.

i can't put any more feelings to words (oh, and that includes costco - it's not a hell of a lot cheaper when one takes 400 mg per day),

i feel utterly helpless, hopeless. i went to a county assistance program - found out i was 200% below poverty line (now that really was a spirit-lifter - this former licensed clinical SW'er, grad school prof...). BUT, that does not qualify me for anything else, as all the other assisatnce programs use a stricter guideline, they will happily "re-train" me - but at my very pathetic wages (the one that makes me 20% below poverty guidelines - well, i already make more than what i could be retrained for.

how long can someone with bipolar live without medication? i can't go on disability - my partner is on my insurance, cannot ge her own due to self-emply and now a very, very serious illness.

" before i was able to get disability so my medication was covered, my doctor and social worker had me sign up for various free med/low cost meds programs. maybe one of these programs can help you?

Patient assistance programs are run by pharmaceutical companies to provide free medications to people who cannot afford to buy their medicine. RxAssist is a database/clearinghouse of these programs. I hope you'll find ones you're eligible for

" I'm on disability, but still can't afford the Abilify I was on. This healthcare system sucks. All I can offer is my sincere "good luck" to you. "

" thnx, folks - but i qualify for NOTHING bcs i have insurance. i cannot, CANNOT go on disability as it will leave my life partner, my spouse hanging out there with no insurance . she cannot get it on her own. if the relationship seems not as important - imagine if we were man and wife. she has a rare and potentially fatal disease that involves multiple specialists.

i'd reallr rather find some way to check pout that doesn't look like suicide. "

" Well, when Gov. health care comes through, you might be forced off your meds anyway, so best to find out how you will live without them.

You can live w/o BP meds for the rest of your life just fine. "

" Zoloft and lithium are $4 at wal-mart and some other of the older medications like deseryl and haldol. Don't know if you would want to change medicine though but if you have to get off your current prescriptions, it might be better than not having any meds at all. Walmart has a list on their website of the $4 meds. that they offer. "

" Walgreens and CVS also have low price generic programs you may want to look into. I think Walgreens does 3 months worth of a prescription for $9. "

" You may have answered this before, but why isn't your partner applying for help? Where I live, counties and state medicaid have allowances for sick people who have high cost illnesses. You seem to be trying to do it all in the relationship. Can't she help out for her own costs? "
