" Tonight I feel achy and ill. I took some Aleve but I still feel bad. I don't think I am coming down with anything and I don't even think it has to do with bp. It is just me being over tired from doing nothing really. Sometimes I get like this and the next day I am just fine. I am not depressed so it is not depression. I don't know if that answers your question or not. "

" Well, I figured out a long time ago that the brain and nerves are part of the body and what affects one will affect the other. Yes, I think physical symptoms can result from mania and mania can result from physical symptoms/injury. "

" I have days when I feel so energized I can't sit still and my brain races on a million different things I want to accomplish to the point that I get nothing done. I also have days where my body aches so bad that I can't do anything; not to mention I have a long history of migraines. How much of this actually has to do with my BP? I have no clue. But I've never made the connection before. I'm going to be sure to ask my therapist at our next session though. "

" on the down side I can experience moderate to heavy body aches. Some of that is also probably due to the fact that I'm pretty sedentary when down as well. When manic, I feel as if I am wearing a hat even if I am not. My brain also feels hot, and my eyes can burn. I grind my teeth a lot when manic too, which causes my jaws to hurt. "

" When I'm depressed I have hypersomnia really bad. I sleep 15 hours a day no problem, and when I'm awake I'm slow and have a hard time keeping up with conversations. I agree mind and body work together. "

" Hi

Sleep is a huge issue for anyone with bipolar and if you are not reaching REM sleep your body suffers. Whn you rech the REM cycle, your body goes through the usual repair process from the acitivities you did earlier in the day. There is a metabolic process which happens during REM sleep which affects your muscles, connective tissue and bones. Also, our dopamine levels are out of whack (part of the bipolar) so this too affects our pain threshold.I cannot stress how important a good mattress is and good sleep hygiene.

I have Fibromyalgia,Degenerative disc disease and many issues in that department. Pills were not helping so I changed a few things and sleep much better. I picked up a 6" thick foam pad for my bed at Wally World,Purchased 600 Thread count cotton sheets and comforters(feel really light but warm in the winter).

Moved the tv to another room, began taking all my meds at night(with docs okay of course).

I also got rid of the Ambien and replaced it with 300 Micrograms of Melatonin nightly.I can say doing this has cut the pain down by 75%!! I can sleep solid for at least 6 hours or more every night uninterrupted. I also have a rule of no phone calls between 10PM-8AM unless it is an emergency -helped a lot.

I am guilty of taking an hournap every day around 2 -but it sems not to effect anything and gives some much needed stamina to work in the evening.
Hope some of these ideas work.
PS -I also picked up room darkening shades so my room is like a cave...lol "
