I'm going to pick this book up. I saw an interview with the author on a late night talk show called "The Hour". It's surprising how he originally only wrote this book for his family. Made 15 copies to distribute at Christmas. Never dreamed it would be the success it is today, and how profound his views are that would change people's perceptions about love and about God. Can't wait to read it.

When Joshua & I were invited to New York; in September 08, to meet Delilah the radio hostess - She highly recommended this book to read - and she told us - she lost her 26 year old brother in a plane crash & lost her mother the same day to grief. Unfortunately for Delilah; her mother never healed - Yet, Delilah goes on to console; help and spread love via the radio and is so down to earth in person. I've yet to read the book; but I'll have to when I can.
Thanks for sharing.

many of you who've written have lost a child - and i totally understand why this book would be so helpful. i've lost a sister, and my parents.
i have to say, though, that this book really angered me. i felt duped. i was entranced as I began and made my way through it. slowly, i began to feel as if i'd walked into a tract written by an evangelical Christian - while i hold any judgment on those beliefs, i don't share them whatsoever. i do attend church, am active in assorted church-related activities. i simply felt duped into picking up a book i felt was falsely advertised.

I recommend the Shack wholeheartedly, but also recommend 90 minutes in Heaven. When Jon died(stepson) I felt as if for the first time I really wanted to glimpse where he was---if that makes any sense. That book gave me a little bit of heaven--and it is a true story. I have heard the author talk on a ministry show, and he 's the real deal.
