My father committed suicide in July at the age of 53. The past few years were difficult with my mothers health (she was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder). She was institutionalized three times last year and my father couldn't take the guilt. He suffered for the past year with putting her in the hospital, despite the fact that she needed to be there as she had gotten so bad. She held this against him for the past year and after a bike trip with a friend this summer, he came home and the next day he drown himself. I have no anger towards my father, but I can not comprehend the loss. My mother has travelled further down the road of her mental illness since his death and I feel as though I have lost both my parents. I'm lost right now, it seems as though I am forgotten in a sea of turmoil with no clearing sky ahead.

Dear bluz29. I'm so very sorry for the pain and confusion you are feeling. That is such a terrible loss for you and then to lose your mother in such a way too.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and I hope you will be able to see a clearing sky soon. You deserve some happiness to come your way.

Thank you dadsgirl for your kindness. I know there will be a clearing to come. One day in the future. Pain can not last forever, although it won'g go away, I know I will eventually come to terms with it and maybe embrace it to strengthen my spirit

dear my name is vader and my boyfriend committed suicide on 5/22/09 of this year.I am so sorry for the your loss but please do remember....this isnt your fault and sometimes people just do not talk at all.If Brad had been more open....things would have been different.I ,too have bi polar.I have bi polar number 2 and I have been taking abilify since April.I have been cured and i do feel wonderful.Please be there for your mom,.She needs your support.It will take time..but there are many support groups that you and your mom can attend.I am here for you.

I am so sorry that you are going through this pain and turmoil. The loss of a parent is one of the hardest. Even at my age, I still miss my dad so much. He passed away ten years ago and now my mother is failing fast, both of them to cancer. It may sound simplistic, but I still try to live my life in a way that my parents would be proud of. In that way, all of the love and guidance that they provided for me would not have been in vain. I hope that you will remember the good times with your folks and try to concentrate on them.

You are not alone. My little brother took his own life in August of 2008. I'd like to tell you it gets easier but I am not going to lie to you.
