" The following poem eases my pain and soothes my soul. Perhaps you will find that it does the same for you:

Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow;
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain;
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awake in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft star that shines at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there; I did not die. "

" I wrote the following years ago after my grandmother died. When my sister died last year I put it to music and it was played at her funeral because I was unable to attend because of finances and some conflict with her husband.
Hope it helps

When Tomorrow Starts Without Me
By: Rev. Russ Chamberlain

When tomorrow starts without me, and I'm not there to see; If the sun should rise and find your eyes filled with tears for me.

I know how much you love me, as much as I love you, And each time that you think of me, I know you'll miss me too.

But when tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand, That an angel came and called my name, and took me by the hand, And said my place was ready, in heaven far above, And that I'd have to leave behind all those I dearly love. I thought of all the yesterdays, the Good ones and the bad, I thought of all the times we shared, and all the fun we had.

When I walked through heaven's gates, I felt so much at home. When God looked down and smiled at me, From His great golden throne, He said, "This is eternity, and all I've promised you." Today for life on earth is past, but Here it starts anew. I promise no tomorrow, but today will always last, and since each day's the same day, there's no longing for the past. But you have been so faithful, so trusting and so true. Though there were times you did some things, you knew you shouldn't do. But you have been forgiven and now at last you're free. So won't you take my hand and share my life with me? For I have a room that is ready for you to call your own for all eternity. Family members and friends are just waiting to meet you once again.
So when tomorrow starts without me, don't think we're far apart, for every time you think of me, I'll always be right here, in your heart. "

The poem from evansmamami and the song from santaruss are both beautiful and heart touching. Thanks the two of you for posting them. "

" The following is not a poem and I cannot remember where I first read it, but it's a phrase that helps me. I hope it will you, too.

"Life is not about avoiding the storm, it's about learning to dance in the rain." "

" Have graditude for each day as though it were a gift and to be grateful for where we are,,,it is a key component of prsonal happiness..and to create a lisy of things we are thnakful for in our lives instead of focusing on losses,,,this is very hard to do and I deal with it..I am going to try to celebrate triumphs instrad of losses and hopefullly get in the present...I also will search for a poem that a friend for the funeral that has stuck with me.. " Here are three more poems that have helped others as they journey through their bereavement and grief segment of their journey of faith. Hope they help

A Silent Tear

Just close your eyes and you will see
All the memories that you have of me
Just sit and relax and you will find
I'm really still there inside your mind
Don’t cry for me now I'm gone
For I am in the land of song
There is no pain, there is no fear
So dry away that silent tear
Don’t think of me in the dark and cold
For here I am, no longer old
I'm in that place that’s filled with love
Known to you all, as "UP ABOVE"

Going Home
© By Susan E. O'dell

Go rest now precious one,
Your life in eternity has just begun.
Now you can walk, your legs are brand
new.
All of heaven is now in your view.

Look all around,it's all in your sight,
There will never be another dark night.
Flowers and jewels, the street of pure gold, and all of the things that have been told.

I can just imagine the smile on your face as you walk all around in that beautiful place.
Greeting our loved ones as you walk along, while singing heaven's most beautiful song.

This is so very hard, but it will all be okay,it isn't goodbye,we'll see you one day.
We love you and we'll miss you and at times it will be tough, but as with everything,God's grace will be enough.

No Person is Ever Truly Alone
by Richard Fife
No person is ever truly alone.
Those who live no more,
Whom we loved,
Echo still within our thoughts,
Our words, our hearts.
And what they did
And who they were
Becomes a part of all that we are,
Forever. "

" Very beautiful and comforting poems. Comforting in the sense that our dearly beloved are now happier and in true peace. It will not stop the grieving process as that must take it's course, but it sure lessens it. Thank you :-) "
