I wrote some poems after my mom died, grappling with some issues. Here are two, there are two more in my journal. I am sorry if the first one offends anyone but I was very depressed...

FALL

Fall, why must you be so dreary?

Your chilling rains and icy winds never fail to pierce my soul

Bringing along your husband Sorrow

Too soon you strip the trees of all their beauty

Leaving their colors to be trampled into the earth

Why must you destroy things so?

Your child, Night, falls quickly upon the living

Engulfing all in deep, dark paralysis

Shadowy Night drags Dreadful Death in tow

Mercilessly ripping loved ones from their children

TO MY MOTHER

All these years I never knew

That I was slowly becoming you

You always gave such good advice

To those who hurt you, you were nice

You always had a knack for caring

So many turned to you for sharing

How could you be so full of life

And keep inside your inner strife?

Now with you gone I have nowhere to turn

I only have your life to learn.

" Thank you all. I have fallen off my path of writing a bit, mostly due to some depression and medication issues, but hope to catch up soon! I just picked up a book of Emily Dickinson poetry and hope to learn more about style and prose. :) "

" One of my favorites thus far by Emily Dickinson:

If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain.
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain. "

" Here is one I just wrote, that does not yet have a name:

I am full of fear

I am full of dread

I must let people near

But my limbs are like lead

I must allow people within my walls

I must reach out and hold on to hope

Even when my courage, it falls

I must allow others in to help cope

Nobody can deal with life on their own

We must help and support each other

Nobody can deal with life all alone

Though I need and miss my mother "
