My moms birthday was August 22. We celebrated her birthday by posting a Facebook event of those who wanted to participate in her favorite Ice cream celebration. Her favorite ice cream is Butter Pecan and Strawberry. We had over 150 people to participate. Some even posted pictures. I took those pictures and place them on a DVD and added a happy Birthday song to it. It came out really nice.
On Saturday, August 25th my sisters and brothers celebrated her birthday by having a birthday celebration and invited family and friends. Mom would have been 80 years of age. Her cake was decorated with two pictures of her. We showed a few videos, had different people speak on her behalf, some sang, and played music, took pictures and had plenty of fun. The celebration lasted about 2 hours. It turned out really nice. It was nice to see the majority of my 9 siblings. We had plenty of food. That made the day very special. It's been five months since mom has been gone. We miss her. The grieving process get easier and easier. We will always miss her. Posted on 08/28/12, 02:57 pm |

Good to hear that you celebrated life instead of mourning death. This is a very hard thing to do. The 31st of August will make 3 years since losing my Dad, and I still have days that I don't want to believe it's true. He died very suddenly, and with no known cause, at only 59 years old. Until this year, I hadn't done anything for his birthday other than silently notice and grieve. This year I lit a candle for him, to burn all day. Happy birthday to your Mom!! I'm sure she loved that you guys all did that for her :)

I am sorry for your loss. My dad died when he was 58 and he has been gone since 1985. I know how you feel. I hope that it gets easier and easier for you. We will always miss them. I reflect on the good time that I had with my mom. I can see her smiling at me.
