Why is Money so Important;more than people?

I am sick and tired of this medical system and this society (USA) that allows people to die because they don't have as much INSURANCE for medical problems. I have seen for myself that FRIENDS die at a young age because the insurance companys WON'T PAY FOR PROPER MEDICAL TREATMENT. I had my best friend, Laura die of CHF and Cellulitis because of this. The hospitals put so many people I know in for so little time, and some had to go into rehabilitation, which THE INSURANCE companies wouldn't pay for. Oh, some do-if the have Medicare. Medicaid-forget it. HMO'S-forget it.My other girlfriend died yesterday because she was in a coma, came out of it, put in hodpital for two days, and let out. She died a few days later. I grieve, and my anger at this system that steals peoples' dignity away because of the almighty dollar. Only a few hundred control this country. This is the only 'civilized' COUNTRY THAT dosen't have UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE. I am very ill because the HMO's WOULDN'T PAY FOR A LIFESAVING PROCEDURE. When these insurance CRIMMINALS meet their makers, I wouldn't want to be there.I grieve for DIANE,55 years old, who died because she was poor. SHAME ON THESE PEOPLE. Please, dear readers, if you have a chance, please see 'SICKO' by Michael Moore. It is a moving and even funny documentary about real people and real lives.

" I get you. Granted we did have insurance for our little girl, we had to with as many medical problems she had but within a few hours of her death instead of grieving for her we worried and stressed about how we were going to have her funeral. They couldn't even order her casket until we had the down payment.I remember him telling me that time was to big of and issue because he had once held a woman for 2 weeks and I looked at my husband and told him that we couldn't leave her just lying there for that amount of time.If it wasn't for all the love and support from donations our little girl might not have had a funeral. It isn't fair when there is so much going on and instead of spending your time on what needs to be done you are stuck worrying about money. This world revolves around money and it is sickning "

" You no its really sad that funeral homes and grave yards get rich over our heartache. But other than to cremate me they want want make another dime .My daughter died back in the 70s its was all about money not about my little girl being gone or the hell her dad and I was going through it was money. Its sad that people have let money take over where human compassion should be . " It's too bad that there are more funeral homes like the one we have here. When my granddaughter died in 2001, the funeral home provided the casket and hearse and the cemetary provided the gravesite and Chapel for memorial services at NO COST, as she was a baby. This is a regular occurence for children and they're buried in "Babyland."

I cannot tell you what a relief this was, as my husband was dying at the same time! We didn't know where all this money was going to come from. When you're grieviing, you shouldn't have to worry about money too!

God bless ~ I'm so sorry this has happened to good people. "

" I think we are all sick of this. I have a friend who needed surgery and Kaiser turned her down. Thank God it was not life threatening. But the octo mom delivered at a kaiser hospital and you saw them all on tv with smiles and how proud they were. this was government assistance. Wow talk about crazy. "

" I would like to see improvements in medical care too. But don't think that government-run health care like in Canada and Britain are the answer. The important people get the best care and the rest get in line; long lines. Lots of people have died while waiting weeks or months for diagnostic tests like MRI's and cat scans. Also, don't trust Moore to do a fair and balanced assessment of anything.

I am sorry for your situation. Is it possible to get a lawyer to deal with the HMO? Is it possible to appeal? Get another doc? "

" I entirely sympathize. I was in a car accident where I was a passenger in the non-fault vehicle. At 19 years old, I barely recovered from the crash... metal rods in my legs, screws in my left arm, reconstructed hip... with quite a few other injuries. My insurance company made me repay ALL of my hospital bills as soon as a settlement check came in. When all was said and done, I barely had a dime to my name. Silly thing is, I applied for disability and was turned down... Thankfully, my fiancee's father covered the funeral costs, otherwise I'd be up to my ears in debt.

I don't think that its right that insurance companies are so abusive. I also disagree with the fact that the government was going to just let me starve and live on the streets. "

" I do believe Universal Health Care is the answer. Before one listens to other peoples opinions, check out some of the people WHO LIVE IN CANADA AND GB. I know these people, and they have exactly what I have, CHF and Pulmonary Hypertension. I also have an HMO and Medicaid. iI think Michael MOORE IS RIGHT ON TARGET. They get treated far better than I ever did. How about going to your first cardiologist's appointment, after getting an HMO, happy, hopeful, maybe finally I will get the help I need. You have to go through it to know it. Years went by. The cardiologist said it wasn't my heart, it was my stomach. (I had been in the hospital a few times with mild heart attacks already. The doctor yelled at me "DON'T TELL ME IT'S YOUR HEART! YOU SHOULD BE GLAD I'M SEEING YOU WITH YOUR INSURANCE!" Can you imagine it? Alone? Scared, over and over. I went to the cardiologist again. I had chest pain. He again was uncaring. His wife happened to be the manager of the office. She said to the 'Cardiologist', her husband, to sign me in for tests, the pain was going on too long. I drove myself to the hospital. When they hooked me up to the EKG machine, bells went off and people came running to me with IVS, ETC. I WAS ADMITTED FOR A WEEK. This is common knowledge for so many people who don't have medicare or better insurance. The HMO'S make more money if people get denied treatment. See Sicko, and if you are a God loving person, like Moore is, nobody who has the facts straight would disagree. We need Universal Health Care. I pray to God every day I don't have to be so disabled, at 54, for so many years. At least I'm alive. Noboby should be treated like this, nobody. God bless us all, in Jesus name. "

" I work in the health care and personally know that with HMO's Doctors get a a percentage from the Insurance Co. So instead of spending that money to refer patients to specialists or to order tests that money goes in their pockets. Our govt. STINKS!!!! My husband applied for Social Security. He was turned down because they said he was young and educated!! I hate our system. Now I am left uninsured! Our govt. wants to keep people who have ins. now the same with higher rates, people who can't afford ins. to pay, and people who are on Medicaid who dont deserve it, they continue with free healthcare. The only good side to that is no doctors take medicaid because our govt. doesn't pay them, they also pocket the money. Good old USA "

" Under the George W. Bush Aministration, I who only have HMO and Medicaid, not Medicare, then you're lucky, they stopped all Chiropractic care, I mean HMO'S wouldn't pay for it. Do you know what they payed the Chiropractors? 6.00 lousy dollars a session. Now since that administration is gone, my old chiropractor, said I can see her again on HMO. She is wonderful. I think we should start demonstrating in front of the White House. We have to show them somehow, we won't take this kind of abuse. In America, we are afraid of our own government. In the EUROPEAN COUNTRIES, THE GOVERNMENT IS AFRAID OF THE PEOPLE. WHY? BECAUSE THEY DEMONSTRATE- ALL OVER THE STREETS UNTIL THEY GET THEIR WAY. PEACEFUL DEMONSTRATIONS ARE ALLOWED. THERE MUST BE SOMETHING WE CAN DO. MOVE TO FRANCE? ENGLAND? CANADA? As Ralph Nader wrote, there are ways you can oppose the American government where they can't stop you. Anybody have any ideas?? "
