I came down with Bells Palsy 2 1/2 weeks ago. I went to the doctor and did a cycle of predinsone and acyclovir. The drugs were terrible, I had terrible side effects and felt my progress on these drugs were minimal if any.
Heard recommendations for acupuncture so decided to give that a try. I've been to the acupuncturist three times now--he uses the needles and gave me some chinese herbs to take three times a day. After the first session the soreness in my face was gone. After two more sessions, my face is 95-97% better! I can blink, sleep without taping my eye shut, smile... I may go back for one more session, but it is SIGNIFICANTLY better. Just wanted to put this out there for anyone looking for an alternative to try. My acupuncturist told me that the best time to go for the best outcome is in the first three days of onset. I went after I had had it for about 10 days and still had excellent results. I got BP six months ago and used acupuncture. My progress was slower, but today I am almost completely recovered.

Its been almost 2 years since i got my BP. I am not completley healed. It just shows when i smile, or cry. I can blink and move it but not 100% normal. My neurologist said its not going to get any better because its been over a year. I was getting physical therapy for it within the year I got it. I was wondering if accupuncture could still help me or if its too late. I might go and ask an accupuncturist.
