Hi, I'm New and I Have Questions

I just discovered this message board through the ABDA. I am being seen by a rheumatologist who thinks I have fibromyalgia. I am pretty certain that I have Behcet's but I have never spoken to a doctor about it. I have two questions:

1) Which doctor should I bring this issue up to? Rheumatologist, Neurologist, Primary Care? My main symptoms are ulcers-oral, genital, and elswhere.

2) I am being seen by a rheumatologist for all over muscle pain and stiffness. I wonder if this could be the joint pain/arthritis that comes with Behcet's, or if it is a separate issue. The pain is in my whole body, neck to feet. Whenever I am immobile for more than a few minutes the stiffness sets in, and the pain varies daily. I do not think I have any swollen joints that would indicate arthritis.

Thanks,

Dianna

" Welcome Dianna!

To address your questions, your Rheumatologist is really the one most qualified to define your symptoms as Behcet's. Why would they diagnose only Fibro when you are having lesions? Ask them for the skin test, it is not definitive but very suggestive.

AS I TELL EVERYONE - GET A SECOND OPINION, it is always a good idea.

I also have allover pain, but also severe swelling. You may have Fibro and Behcet's. You might also see a Dermatologist if you have many skin lesions, they also should be able to assist you in a diagnosis.

Good luck,

Heather "

" Thanks, Heather. I have a rheumatology appointment next week, so I guess I will talk to him about it. "
