Discussion:
BD in the UK

Hi guys

I've just joined the group, and thought I'd introduce myself.

I'm Babs, wife and Mum to 2 boys aged 8 and 12. I live in Kent, UK and was FINALLY diagnosed with BD in 2004 when I developed a VERY large, very sore genital ulcer while pregnant with my youngest. The Obs Consultant put my previous symptoms over many years (mouth ulcers, joint pains, chronic fatigue) together, and said that he thought he knew what was causing it all, although it would need to be investigated more after I'd given birth - I could have kissed him! Thankfully, he suggested a C-Section to rule out the risk of having to give birth naturally with possible ulcers - great news for me as I'd had a really bad labour the first time round.

So, finally diagnosed in March 2004, I'm still trying to get my symptoms under control. It doesn't help that I am really forgetful, and can go days or weeks without taking my meds ;-(

I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone - I've also set up a group called Behcets Patients UK, so if any of you are in the UK and would like to talk about stuff specific to the UK, I'd love to welcome you to the group.

Best go and get dinner on - otherwise I'll have two very grumpy kids (and a not overly happy hubby!)

" Welcome, I have not been online in this group for awhile. You seem as if you are heading in the right direction. Learning about the disease is important. We have lot of online groups and when I was first DX'd it helped me a lot to be in a real good group back then. It does not exist anymore but it was a good start. If you are on Facebook message me and let me know.
I wish I would have stayed in touch in this group more as their are some really nice people I have met. I lost touch and am stopping in.
I wish you the best! "
