" LayDBug,
Enuresis is so common, especially among boys his age, that just about any sleepover will include several enuretic participants. The problem is not the enuresis per se, but the parents' reaction to it. The solution may be to find disposable or washable protection that is reliable, that preserves his dignity and privacy, and that reduces stress for all concerned. Paxton "

" LayDBug,

I agree with Paxton bedwetting at his age is very common. I am sure that several of his friends also wet their bed too. But like him they are probable keeping it a secret. Have him wear protection if he wants to if not then have him help with the laundry. Not as a punishment but more as a taking responsibility thing. My moms did not make me wear protection as I did not want to but I did help with what I could in doing my laundry and cleaning up the wet beds..Never was a real issue at home we jsut delt with it. "

" Statistically I agree with the doc.

I'd bet the major factor the doc was considering was that this has been ongoing. Now if he'd stopped wetting the bed for a long time and then started again, THEN I'd be more concerned.

Most (ie more than 50%)stop wetting the bed by age 5. However by age 7, approximately 10% still wet the bed "regularly" and as much as 20% still wet the bed "occasionally". "

" My child is 7 and still wets the bed every night. It is so difficult to wash the bedding every day and not be able to help her. "

" Hi,

Using a discreet Waterproof Sleeping Bag liner may help:

http://www.ericshop.org.uk/sleepin... - for the UK

Take care,

" My son is only 3 - I hope he is not plagued with bedwetting and incontinence like I am. I just don't want him to have to go through the same sorts of things I had to go through. We will see.

You can always try one of those alarms that has a wetness thing where when urine hits it - the alarm goes off and wakes the kid up. "

" i can completley understand, i also have a seven year old that is showing no signs of stopping bed wetting. He wets at least 3 times a night and does not even wake to tell me. Again the doctors have told me the same, that he will grow out of it. "

" good morning i have an 11 year old who wets most night. Yeh i was told all the stuff about growing out of it etc and have just been back to Dr lasy week and is now booked for bladder kidney and urethral scans. I have tried everything and nothing has changed in fact even had bed alarm that he slept through but rest of house didnt!!! I live in Lincolnshire and we have an enureisis nurse that is attached to each school nursing team. maybe that would be an option, im sure my son was about 6 when we were first refered as they dont class it as a problem till then.
As far as beds go i have a brill incontinence mat on his bed which is washable and can be tumble dried that way his sheet stays dry and i have a quilt protector and about 4 quilt covers. that way theres no stress of getting it dry and back on his bed that night. as for staying over my son went to camp last year and i was terrified his friends would find out but he wore dry nites and no one noticed he also wears these if he stays at friends with a big baggy t shirts and shorts no one has ever realised.
Hang on in there and ask to be refered to an enuresis nurse. "
