" OMG, no!!!! I had a PM physician order a heel lift and I now have ruptured tendons and ligaments in that foot: a foot specialist told me I never needed it in the first place, that there was no difference in my legs to warrant a lift.
Please be sure before you let someone, even a physician, do something that could cause you permanent damage. Sometimes I think about sending the heel lift back to her via overnight delivery...that might cause her to get a pain in HER arse instead of my foot.lol. "

" They recommend you start off wearing your orthotic only a hour or two a day and gradually build up to where you can where is all the time. So, it can take a week or two to really get use to it and your body to adjust. Did you start off wearing it the whole day? What is the difference between your two legs? Is the heel lift the same difference? Although the difference between my legs is 7mm, my heel lift is only 5mm. They told me that you never want the heel lift to be the exact difference between the legs, it should always be a little smaller. I started to feel relief from my orthotic after a couple of days.

RubellaUmbrella, did your PM not do any X-rays to determine if you needed a heel lift? My PM doc ordered a special x-ray, I can't remember what it is called, that determines if one leg is shorter than the other. That's how she found that my left leg is 7mm shorter than my right. My heel lift has made all the difference in the world! I don't have any of the hip and leg pain that I had before I started wearing my lift. "

" I have had my orthotics for many years. I never heard of just one. But could be my ignorance. As Johnhar71 stated, start off slowly, and work your way up. If this doesn't get better, tell your doctor. "
