I was hit while stopped at a crosswalk 1 1/2 yrs ago. Went to hospital and had xrays @ ER. I've been thru acupuncture, chiropractic, massage therapy, physical therapy ... while some pain relief came periodically I am still in pain and I can hardly turn my neck either way. Went to MD who gave me a steroid shot in trigger point in my R. shoulder. That helped me turn my head a bit. He fially gave me a referral to a pain specialist because I got tired of him just feeding me pain killers & muscle relaxers.
Pain specialist - she refused an MRI or another xray even though I've only had ONE so far since the accident. She thinks I have chronic pain in joints in low back. She wants to treat one spot at a time so low right back first. then she will do neck and then low left. She recommended an epidural injection for diagnostic purposes with anesthesia. Since i'm still in so much pain this long after the accident why has noone done an MRI? Posted on 07/04/09, 07:07 pm |

Hi Hun,
So sorry for your pain.... I think that going to the pain specialist is OK, but, with an accident that happened so long ago and you still having symptoms is time to go see an Orthopedic Doctor that specializes in spines or a Neurosurgeon. Explain to this Doctor's that you need/want/demand to have an MRI or a CT scan ASAP. I don't know if you have pending litigation from this accident or not, but the statue of limitations is 2 years and if this accident has caused you some permanent damage you need to get a lawyer ASAP, so you don't get stuch with medical bills that are not your fault. Call your PCP and see if he can refer you to an Ortho or an NS and if he refuses, call your local hospital and ask for a referral to a local Doc that can see you right away. What if you have to have surgery? The other person's insurance should be paying for your pain and suffering. What if you herniated a disc or two and need long term treatment? You need to act quickly. Go get yourself a specialist that will do an MRI or a CT, don't let this one PCP and PM Doc been your only opinions, you have options, go get them before is too late. Good luck to you.
