Well............ ice and heat works if is just something simple, but if you are hurting all of the time, you might want to see a Doctor so they can do some studies (x-ray's, MRI's, CT scans) to see what the cause of your pain is.
Have you tried taking anti-inflammatory like Aleve or Advil? If heat, anti-inflammatory, ice, etc. don't work, you definitely need to see a Doc! It could be a problem with a disc or scoliosis or God knows what else, so is time to see a Doc! Good luck to you,

Hi how are you ??
I use heat to help. Also you could try pt to build some muscles in the back area. Also see a doctor who will refer to a pain clinic to help out with the pain. Cause of your age you may find it hard also. Good luck.

At your age, the most important thing is to take the back pain seriously. This could be something temporary that may go away, but it could signal that you are one of us that are more prone to back injury. If you exercise the back muscles, control your weight and eat responsibly, you could head off a lifetime of pain. Of course this all needs to be done with your doctors help.
Just a few things I do that helps, 1. Inversion table. I can be more comfortable on the inversion table at times, I often adjust it to a slightly head low (near horizontal) and sleep there. 2. Pillows. I have a large variety of pillows an experiment with arrangements that are more comfortable, Also look for various surfaces to sleep on, my bed worsens the pain instantly. 3. Vibrating massager, The larger, the better. Use it on the areas that hurt the most, 4. Comfrey Herbal Ointment, I saw a recent article on WEBMD.Com about this stuff, it seems to help a little. 5. Take note of what movements cause the most pain and avoid them. There seems to be two parts to the pain, the nerve pinch and the inflammation, first reduce the inflammation by restricting movement and anti inflammatory meds. then restrict movements that cause the pinch to prevent inflammation from starting up again. once the pain is managed, VERY Slowly begin working on the stretching exercises in order to get your back into better condition.

well moist heat and switching it with ice every 20 minutes is best. Sometimes arthritic asprin or bufferin works. If you still have the pain,
go to your dr and have a mri and ct of spine.and x-rays. you may have a little something wrong and it can be fixed while your young.
