I am about to start taking Tramadol for my back pain. Has any one taken it? And if so, what is your experience with it? I'm not sure what to expect with it as how it will work or how it will make me feel.

I took it and it was as good as taking 2 baby aspirins, it did not give me any relief whatsoever.

I think that's what one of the 3 ER's gave me via IV its a non-narcodic...and yeah..it was WORTHLESS! I know what may work for one..may not for another..but..for me..it did nothing...

I've taken it for various moderate pains throughout the years, and it helped. It is important to note that although it is non-narcotic, it is a synthetic opioid. It still has potential for abuse and/or withdrawl side effects just like standard narcotics. Basically the only difference is that narcotics/opioids are mainly derived from the poppy plant and synthetic opioids are not but have similar functions and effects. As long as you take it as prescribed, you should have nothing to worry about. I hope it helps your pain!

If I remember right, doesn't it have to build up in your system? So you won't notice if it is working until after you take it regularly for a couple of weeks.
I have heard coming off of it is very hard and you will have to do it very slowly just like coming off any other opioid.

Thank you all for your input. I start taking it tomorrow. They have me starting slow. 1/2 pill the first day and slowly building up to 4 pills a day by the 7th day. I will let you all know how it goes.

I can tell you that I had a injection o toradol and it worked better then any o the heavy hitters. In fact my Mom had bone cancer and she was in horrible pain one day. her oxicontin and her pain patch combined were not working so I took her in to ER and they gave her toradol right in the shoulder and she was pain free. I have never used the pills. Let us know I am curious if the pills work as good as the injection..

Yes, Toradol is an excellent pain killer in injection form but in pill form is as good as candy. The one thing that is bad about Toradol injections is that they can damage your liver faster than what any of these other medications can. The Doctor that I used to work with used Toradol with his patients, but after 2 or 3 injections if the person was still in pain; he wil switched them Percocet, Darvocet or send them to pain management.

I took it for a while, and although it did not help me, you have to remember that everyone is different. What helps one may not help the other and visa versa...So give it a try and let us know how it is working for you.
