Zanaflex is a muscle relaxer. Obviously, you have an intolerance for it. You might ask your doc to let you try Soma. That's been a very effective muscle relaxer for me. Best of luck!

it works really well for me, but i built up an intoterance for flexaril. I think that each med effects each person differently. It really is a trial and error as frustrating as that seems. TRUST ME! The doc just keep adusting the meds until they find that "coctail" that works for you. hand in there and just be incredibly thankful you have a doc that is working with you. Zanaflex did not knock me out but I didn't notice any help with my muscles so I stopped taking it. Soma is a sedative (makes you sleepy) which is why it helps with muscle spasms. I have found nothing effective for helping muscle pain and spasm. I wish you much luck!!!

I would recommend you stay very far away from Soma... this is a drug that will make you crazy!! doctors worth a crap do not prescribe it for 1 simple reason, you get a different "high" from it each time you take it. It is also very, very addictive.... stick with what your doctor has you on and stay away from soma at all costs!!

I am currently on Zanaflex for my muscle spasms, and it does make me sleepy. But I do like the fact that it takes care of my issue. I was on Soma once and it also worked for me, so either one is OK, but most muscle relaxers make you sleepy, so you are going to have to take them, before bed or when you know that you are not leaving the house and are able to take it.

As far as Soma been very addicting..... I did NOT suffer from that. My pain management Doctor is very competent and did prescribe me Soma. The only reason that we change to Zanaflex was the cost.....
