TENS

I have had my TENS for 3 weeks now. It really helps me get through the day since it is not possible for me to take my pain pills or muscle relaxers during the day. I have found that in order to have relief, that I pretty much have to have the TENS turned on every minute of the day. when it is off, the pain is instantly back. It is my understanding that most people can turn it on for a half hour and have hours of relief. I wonder what makes me so different. Anyway I was just curious how other people use their TENS unit and if you feel it is working well for you.

" Before I had my spinal cord stimulator installed in 08 I had a TENS unit and I pretty much used it 24/7...... that is why my pain management Doctor recommended the SCS for me. "

" it is good that you do get some relief with it. I have one at home that is nothing more than a dust collector. i got the scs and it helps with my leg pain. I have had to have an adjustment done and now need another one but i have only had it for 3 weeks now so once i get all the tweeking done i will be greatful. I guess you are just reliant upon it now. and if you need to wear it all the time then by all means do what helps you. "

" I turn mine on and off because sometimes my skin starts to get irritated, but I don't think there's anything wrong with leaving it on all the time.

Lidocaine patches work really well for me when my skin gets irritated from the TENS unit. I get really itchy from the pads. At night I use Lidocaine patches for the itch and can wear my TENS everyday. "
