I would love to respond, but I have never heard of it. What is it and what is it for?

From personal experience please research it completely before making your decision. Decide if the benefits outweigh the cons. Do what is right for you.

Maybe known as a spinal tap, used to take fluid off the spinal cord to be tested...

Wiser words cannot be spoken: "please research it completely" I agree, cat!
A lumbar puncture is a spinal tap (same thing). It's a diagnostic procedure thats done to collect a sample of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) for analysis. The bottom line is the the same with many of these types of procedures: Myelogram, Discogram, Lumbar puncture, is the same: *If performed properly* serious complications are extremely rare. When they do occur, however, they are often serious. The key is having a doctor who genuinely values your health first -- everything else should be secondary (time, compensation, pride). If I wait too long at appointments, have my files misplaced, or generally sense a doctor not being present in conversation.. I thank them for their time, shake hands, and walk out. Demanding quality health care results in quality health care. As a note, I find female doctors far, far more atune and careful than males. Let the doc know you know what is being performed and there is no room for error.

thank you for your responses;.......I have researched it, even watched a cou)ple of videos on it, and for someone who dislikes needles, I'm sorry I did, anyway, he seems a genuine guy, has been very upfront with me, but i have no idea of he is any good at it .....I was wondering how 'rare' are the cases afterwards and will it add anyway longterm to a lot of back pain I already have. I find specialists can be one minded in their area of medicine at times. i wonder are women better because some may have suffered the pain of childbirth and so recognise real pain ?
