My back has been killing me latley! I live on a three story walk up, so it could be the stairs, but man it's really bothering me, I've been off narcotic pain meds for a little while now, I'm thinking about going back on them. I see the pain dr. on monday. We'll see what they have to say. Any of you suffer back pain? got any tips on how to make it better? Mine is lower back pain more centered to the right and goes down my right leg to my knee and radiates at my knee. It's not fun and I'm not liking it. and if I have to start working again they are going to have to do something about it. I hope I don't have to have surgery. I kinda want to though if its going to help. anything to stop the pain. it's relentless.

" Have you had an MRI to see what may be going on. Pain meds help but for me I want to know why it hurts so bad. Try using heat on your back, also stretches. For me I have had 3 lower back surgeries and could be on my way to the 4th. I have a TENS UNIT that also helps good luck Trish "

" Do what you can to stay off of the meds if you can. Physical therapy helps some people immensely. And surgery has various rates of success, with some people claiming 100% pain reduction. I would suggest seeing a pain management specialist, and getting the appropriate imaging tests done as well. If you can fix it, try and do so, as the meds are just a band aid. If you do need them, the pain doc can belp find what will work for you. "

" try lying on the floor with your legs on an ottoman or foot stool. i have had 2 lower back surgeries and i am in pain always. get an MRI see what's happening. pain is the bodies way of telling you something is wrong. also a recliner and a pillow under my rt knee sometimes helps. or lay on your back, feet on floor with knees up. slowly, and i mean slowly slide your rt foot towards you. as you do your knee automatically comes towards your chest. put both hand around your knees and help "pull" the knee to your chest and hold it for a count of 5. Slowly reverse what you have just done and give it a ten count and repeat for a total of five reps. remember if it is worse while doing this STOP imediately. this helps me sometimes by stretching out the low back and muscles that are probably enflamed. remember when doing this slow is the name of the game. " CrzyPurple, i was fitted for a back brace. It is made of tight, stretchey stuff. It really helps when you have to use the stairs alot. Get one of those from the pain doctor too. "
