" I have had a chronic back problem for 15 years. I started my walking plan 4 years ago. All I do is walk for 5 days weekly. When I started walking, I could barely walk 10 minutes. Now I walk 3 days for 30 minutes each and Saturday for one hour and Sunday for 45-55 minutes. I have walked this plan for 4 years and 5 months and have never missed my 5 day a week goals. You have to find ways to plan to do it but it's worth it if you can love yourself enough to do it for yourself. It does help the pain. I still have my back problem but it's better for my walking. Also, losing weight if you are overweight will help without medications. Another good exercise for the back is swimming if you like that. I hate swimming so I just walk. Good luck to you in finding other things that can help besides medications. I still take some medication at times but not as much after my walking and healthy eating plan. My best to you. "

" i agree fully walking is the best thing you can do. Start out a little at a time and work your way up, nothing like a peaceful walk around the neighborhood in the evenings anyway. If you can fit it in your schedule a short walk each morning will add to the benefit.Good luck to you and I hope you try this. "

" kibbey email me off list at sks8761@bellsouth.net with back exercises in the subject line and I will send you the exwercises I to this day do 4 times a day, due to my chronic low back pain and 4 back surgeries. A word of advice too, I have found during my sojourn as a massage therapist that low back pain on one side usally has shoulder pain on the opposite side. So my exercises also include shoulder/arm stretches.
