Hello,
I am new to the group...as of today! I was injured in an automobile accident on May 2nd and I am now in severe pain.....I wanted to know what I can try....to ease the pain... I have tried an extra-large heating pad..a foam donut that helps relieve pressure on my spine..other than the Vicodon and steriods..what other methods can I try? I have a fracutred back and pelvis..so exercises are out for awhile.. I have never had anything wrong with my back prior to the accident...so its all new...and devestating! please....tell me...there's something that can ease this pain! Posted on 05/21/09, 01:05 am |

Hello and Welcome!
What does your Doctor say the next step is? Are you seeing a pain management specialist and an Ortho? or a Neuro? Other than you have tried and maybe some exercising that you can not do right now, you need to ask your Doctor's what your options are. I hope that they will guide you the into the correct path. Good luck to you and welcome!

Thanks for ya respone Tipper! I am seeing a Neurosurgon tomm. set up through a County Hospital here in Houston. I just recieved my Temp. Medicaid Card and it is not showing up in the system that Dr's office's use to do an approval for an appt. Its weird the way the DR's do the pre-approval for an appt! I cannot do any exercises :( I am having A LOT OF PAIN! I am going to put it all out there for the Neuro tomm....HOPEFULLY...THEY WILL HELP!!!

Good for you! Make sure to bring a list of questions for the Doc, since we tend to forget in our pain all of the things that we want to ask. Also, the Doc's are usually in such a hurry that if you have prepared questions in a writing pad, he can just go thru them quickly. Other thing, if you can bring someone with you. When we are in pain we don't tend to listen to well, we just want the pain to go.
This person can be your advocate, your ears and the person can take notes when the Doctor's gives you the answers. I sometimes saw patients bring a small tape recorder so they wouldn't forget the Doctor's answers. Good luck tomorrow and keep us posted! d
