I have a mother who adopted a girl that has all the things I listed. The Dr. just took this girl off her medicines because he thinks her meds were stopping her from getting her period. This girl is kinda bouncing off the walls and I was wondering if anyone had a suggestions for this mother. My son is 5 and my daughter is seven so I wasnt sure if there were different things you could do for a teenager she is thirteen. This mother does not know what to do for her. Thanks everyone for any help you could be

Is the doctor that stopped the meds the family practitioner or a psychiatrist? What meds was she taking?
I would think a doctor would realize that some girls do not start their cycles until later on. some are even 15+ before starting their cycle. A lot will depend on their family history also, and since the girl is adopted that history may not be available. I am raising my 14 yo granddaughter who has a dx of Asperger's. She takes Trileptal for mood stabilization and Luvox for her OCD symptoms. She began her cycle when she was 12... but her mom started when she was 10 (her paternal grandmother also started when she was 10). I was 13. So there is a great fluctuation in the time a cycle may start. If she is very underweight or small built she may not start until a later age. Anorexia can cause a later cycle age also. Did the doctor test for her hormone level prior to pulling the meds? Was it necessary to pull ALL her meds at the same time?

80lbs sounds underweight, she probably just needs to hit the weight gain to start her periods....I would doubt her meds have any delays for her.....unless they decrease her appetite....my daughter is 10 1/2 and she is just starting the puburty signs..breast buds...oh joy.

From what I heard, the magic weight for starting your period is 100 pounds.
