Advice:
DOES MY CHILD SOUND LIKE HE HAS PDD/AUTISM

My son is 26 months old, I noticed he was different from the beginning. He didn't smile much or gaze into peoples eyes when he was a baby. He always had this scowl and people commented on it a lot. As he developed I noticed he was not text book in fact far behind. Each appointment the doctor told me to keep an eye on him and work with him a lot. At 12 mos, 15 mos, 18 mos the doc gave him the development/autism test and he failed each time. At 18 mos my doctor (who has an fully autistic child of his own) told me he is very worried about my son. He advised me to do puzzles with him, read to him and repeat words in our everyday routine. At 24 months the doctor gave him the test again and he passed barely but failed the communication portion of the test. The doctor was very incouraged and said we would retake the test at 30 months and see if we need a home study. My is 26 months and every day I feel sick over the idea of this. Here are my sons symptoms...
No to little eye contact
responds to name maybe twice out of the 50 times I call it in a day
poor balance till 22 month
walks on toes some-started at 18 months
did not walk until 14 mos
plays with only a couple toys all day
wont try to do a puzzle, just hold the pieces like they are precious to him
talks in one word phrases
pulls me to what he wants or leads me to the fridge for food or to the tv to turn it on.
If i wont let him pull me to what he wants he just lays on the floor and throws a massive fit
Tantrums (but he is 2) upset when he does not get his way
I get a kiss maybe once a wk, no one else in the family gets them that much-he doesn't really hug ever
He will not follow commands like "come here" or "sit down"
He yells a lot and screams really high pitched
****he will push a car or pretend to pour tea, he will clap when he does something good.

I took an online test for PDD AND IT SHOWED HIS SCORE OF 82 WHICH 50-100 WAS MILD PDD. Wonder what other parents out their think of this and if he sounds like he has this. I don't want to wait on early intervention not even to 30 months, if it is PDD. I REALLY DONT KNOW HOW I CAN HELP HIM AT HOME AS HE WONT LOOK AT WHAT I AM TRYING TO SHOW HIM OR LOOK AT ME WHEN I TALK TO HIM. I FEEL LIKE I AM TALKING TO MY SELF ALL DAY WHEN I SAY WORDS LIKE, CHAIR, APPLE, DANCE, PLAY TOYS, CAR ETC... PLEASE HELP

" Welcome to the group.
It sounds very much so to me. Did your doctor refer you to early child intervention? I think he should have done that last year from the way your description.

" i'm kind of surprised with the dr. having an autistic child that he is asking you to wait to get a diagnosis, my daughter took it into her own hands when her dr. really didn't offer any help , she got him to a child pschycologist and after the diagnosis she got him started with speech and occupational therapy.
