Diltiazem question

I know there are some folks here who have had problems with Diltiazem. I've been taking it (120mg.) for 1.5 weeks now, and have some side effects. In addition to the usual side effects listed for this med., has anyone experienced a rise in blood pressure? I thought this drug was suposed to lower it, but it has raised it, in my case. Also, I'm getting swollen ankles, insomnia, etc. Too bad; I was hoping it would work better. The other alternative my cardiogist offered was beta blockers, which make me feel like a zombie.

" I just had my Diltiazem increased along with starting Metoprolil but it has lowered my BP which is surprising since nothing has done that for over 30 years. I have, however gotten psoriasis which happened to me many years ago when I took it. I take 480mg. a day and it really helps lower my heart beat along with the Metoprolil. Maybe there is something else working on your BP. Maybe its anxiety which is the worst thing of all for raising mine. Good luck. hidss "

" I'm on same meds for about two weeks. (first time ever AFIB). My blood pressure did seem to rise with me. then they added 10 Lisiniprol and the BP is OK
My pulse continues to bounce around and I don't know yet
what the docs are going to propose for that.
One doc said that some people simply live with it--but I wonder whether that doesn't create other problems. "
