I can't control my asthma because I can't control my environment. I have been needing to use my pump daily. I went 26 years of my life without problems and now in NYC I am having the worst problems with my asthma. Started off with a roach infestation. I would wake up gasping for air and roaches crawling on me. HORRIBLE! I moved from that apartment. I ended up moving into an apartment that had a cigarette smoker down the hall that would cause my apartment to smell like cigarettes..NOT GOOD for my lungs! I got him to change his window that he smoked out of and now my apartment doesn't smell like ciggs as much but sometimes it still does. I am lost at what to do because it's not illegal for them to smoke in their apartment so yea...I can't say "DONT smoke in your home". Well after that...I found out I have a mouse infestation. I kept finding mice droppings everywhere and mice running around in plain sight. I read up on that and found out that like roaches mice can also cause asthma attacks. Wonderful! I am trying to keep that situation under control but its not 100% under control I can still hear the mice trying to get in at night. NOW TODAY....I found a BEDBUG in my bedroom..so yea..I called the exterminator right away. Just waiting to see when they can come. If they find a bad infestation of bedbugs along with the mice ....well then...NO WONDER I CAN'T BREATH IN MY OWN HOME! I am so at a loss of what to do. Anxiety is high. Insomnia is high. I am fighting the depression. Moving to NYC was the worst decision to make for my health! I can't stand being here another minute!

What should I do? I am on Asthmacort and my albuterol pump. I am sick of needing to use my albuterol daily.

I was told that an air purifier wouldn't do crap so since I have no money right now I didn't bother spending money on one....Would yall agree? Are they crap? Do any of them work?

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

" Sounds like you're having no luck in NYC what so ever!
I hope you get the bug/mice problem fixed ASAP.

I LOVE animals and am so allergic to them and they do not help my asthma at all. I have one poodle X who doesn't bother me at all but I do have a Basset Hound who sheds so much =S

It's hard when you can't control what is going on around you. I take my ventalin every day! And when I go to the hospital for my asthma they say my oxygen levels are pretty good. I know I have to talk to my doctor about allergy shots, and see an asthma specialist!

I pray you get the help you are looking for!
I'm sorry I don't know about the air purifiers. "
