I have within the last few months had a ton of asthma problems. I have had asthma symptoms daily for months. Before a few months ago, I would had chest tightness off and on but it wasn't all the time and I wasn't on any asthma medicines. My question is why all of a sudden would someone start to have asthma problems all of the time?

Mine fired up when I stopped taking my allergy pills for seasonal reactions. It seems like once it gets active it is difficult to make it calm down and become idle. I now take my meds faithfully, keep rested, avoid triggers and eat right. Big results for minor disciplines.
Sure hope this helps you. Keep us posted. Hugs Ohana

Lots of things -- your allergies can change (you can become more or less sensitive to substances), stress and hormone changes, moving to a new home, new/different pollution. In my case I think (hope) weight gain has something to do with it -- fat can actually stimulate the release of leukotriene-like substances that cause bronchial inflammation.
I think allergens and the irritations they cause can be cumulative, too. I am allergic to cats but tolerated my husband's (and a stray we took in) for 17 years because I loved them and the asthma "wasn't so bad." I used to use my Proventil once a week, but by the time I came down with acute bronchitis, I was using it several times a day and it wasn't doing much good. I'm on more medication than I'd like too (Symbicort and Singulair), so I asked my doctor to prescribe the Immunocap test so that we could identify any environmental allergens that could be reduced or eliminated. We're supposed to get the results this week. Sorry I can't be more specific -- these are the things my allergist told me. Feel better!

Mine often acts up more than usual (usually, it rarely does) because of a greater amount of stress and distress. Such as a teacher who fails the class and calls them stupid all of the time. -_-

could be any number of things, it could be an infection looming, exposure to some unknown trigger, personally, i have always had daily asthma symptoms. if your asthma has been controlled for awhile and suddenly has flared there could be a number of reasons why. if it continues i'd call your doctor. you might need more meds or maybe different meds to control your symptoms.

I believ that asthma is getting more prevalent amongst people who have never had it and this indicates that there are clear environmental factors at work that people do not want to explore for various reasons.Particularly air pollution in urban areas - nears main highways and other pollutants cause lung irritation and congestion that causes areation which can be termed asthma amongst those who have not suffered it before. Where I live in the North West of England it is a low lying area -which is also damp -which is not ideal for asthmatics.
I also think that asthmatics are more sensitive to stress and get tired. It depends on many factors at work here and would need a lot longer to explain. If you can get to feeling and in control of your life then you are winning the battle - otherwise its tough. Its hard because if you are the only asthmatic in your family you have no one who understands how bad it can get. That is why web sotes like this are excellent in helping communication between fellow sufferers. Good luck in your life.

I agree, this is a great site to gain support of others who really understand, live it each day, and know that asthma has the potential to kill us. It is a very serious matter. Allergies and asthma, intrinsic and extrinsic causes...all need to be controlled because all of us know what happens when asthma controls us. Not a good thing.

Asthma is a serious condition. There is no permanent cure for it. One can only find medicines to ease the pain.
