I was given Proventil HFA. I took it during an asthma attack and all it did was make me shake and made my heart beat out of my chest. That night I ended up going to the ER. Has anyone else have a experience with Proventil?

" i don't have any problem with proventil but i was on proair an dit did nothing. sounds like you need a different medication. if the albuterol inhalers don't do it for you maybe xopenex or maxair , you should ask your doctor, let him know that the proventil isn't doing the trick for you and find something that will work well for you. " I have a question about Proair and Proventil. I have been on proair for a few months and it works if I am having asthma symptoms but my doctor also told me to take it before I worked out and it should prevent me from having any asthma symptoms... Proair does NOTHING to prevent asthma symptoms every time I workout I get very short of breath and cough. With all that said a nurse practitioner standing in for my doctor while he is on a month vacation told me to try Proventil but its just another brand. She acted like it was the same thing and that she didn't think it would work then why was she suggesting it? I just don't get it.

So pkukid are you saying that there was a difference for you? I'm just confused about the two. DO you know what the differences are? Thanks "

" proventil and proair are both albuterol inhalers- for me these don't help my symptoms too much. maxair and xopenex are not albuterol. my doctor put me on maxair and it helps better than the albuterol inhalers. if you are using proair or proventil and not getting relief from your symptoms maybe you 're like me and albuterol inhalers aren't the best option for you. if i were in your position i'd talk to my doctor about the possibility of trying on of these inhalers, it might be a good option for you.
