I cant get a grip on my attacks, I have been extremely sick since Sunday night-was sick days before but the worst part started Sunday. I take advair, spriva, theophillyn, and use my nebulizer, but I cant seem to control it. After an attack I am so weak I can barely walk,my legs tremble. Do any of you experience that? My head even starts to get numb. I dont know what to do anymore, they have tried so many meds and it doesnt seem to change much. I think i would scream if i could, dont have enough air to spare!!

" i was in denial that I had asthma when I turned 30 I had my first anxiety attack after numerous asthma tests ...my mother died in my arms of an asthma attack and suffered her entire 35 years with it(i was 15)...I considered myself lucky that I wasn't diagnosed until I turned 30. My identical twin sister and brother always had the asthma attacks and I just had reactive airway disease and avoided cats, dogs, horses, dust and i was fine. When my doctor told me I had asthma and the sooner I accepted it the sooner i would find that there are tons of treatments available that give relief which were not available to my mother 20 years ago. When I have a flare up with my bronchitis or cold or sinus infection I get on the advair and nebulizer treatments at home. Sometimes prednisone is necessary and I have just adapted to the life of an asthmatic. I've learned to pay close attention to my wheezing and when I don't feel well I go to the doctor immediately. It is such a serious condition and sometimes I say why me, but then I realize I had it easy compared to my dear mother who only had primatine mist to control her symptoms...peakflow meters, advair, albuterol, nebulizer treatments, prednisone. It can be very debilitating and when I am sick and under stress from my three daughters I have had flare ups occur.. I take it very seriously because I was there when my mother took her last breath and couldn't breathe another breath..I sat there and didn't even try CPR. I was 15 and felt so helpless. The best I can do now is take care of myself and my three daughters who thank goodness, don't have any signs of the disease. It's a very hard thing to deal with but if you let your family know that it is a serious condition and that you need their support during those difficult times, it will make things better for you. Be well and take care of yourselves because no one else will. "
