the problem with bronchitus is that you need to make sure it is properly cleared witha course of antibiotics otherwise it will keep re growing. often a longer course of antibiotics are needed. also has the dr taken a sputum smaple as the antibiotics you are being given may not be effective if it keep reoccuring.
as always with breathign problems if you are having difficulty you need to go to your dr to get things sorted or go to the hospital if they get too bad. a spacer is a good device and a plastic balloon is the best way to describe it. there is a notion that it is believed that a 10 puffs of a reliever inhaler through a spacer is as effective as a nebluliser. It also helps to stop getting yeast infections int he mouth which can be caused by residue left from the inhaler particularly steriod based inhalers. wheezylass

Please be careful not to overdo it with the nebulizer...too much can cause asthma to worsen....please check with your NP or doctor about the frequency.
Feel better.

em..i jsut want to correct something. too much nebuliser wont worsen asthma as it is a bronchodilator but people can become more reliant on them and also not go to hospital soon enough to get help.
the actual nebuliser wont make asthma worse. i have had as many as 15 back to back. other than some very back tachiacardia it helped my lungs. if you are still having symtoms an a tiough time you really shoudl go back to the dr. wheezylass

i know with asthma it is very difficult to accept it when your asthma is playing up. Although your dr has said rest it is important you keep up some sort of mobility. It is important to try and walk a little bit and also to try and get some fresh air.
If you remain sedantry when you have an infection or a bronchitus the infection with remain in your lungs and probably grow worse. It may be very difficult to feel well enough to do anything but you need to push yourself somewhat. If you dont move the infection will settle and become even more difficult to shift making you more ill. In moving around you will loosen the mucus in your chest making it easier to cough up and clear the infection. I hope you start to feel better soon. I know what it is like to be young and have your life taken away for a short time. It is not much fun and you can start to give up. Please dont give u0p. You will get better. Wheezylass

I go to gym for about an hour twice a week and I feel that it has actually helped (not hindered) my asthma. Probably because while my body is getting a workout, my lungs are too. Of course, I always carry my bronchodilator with me just in case!
My doctor encourages this.

my asthma is hard to control, i get bronchitis about 3x a year. do nebs as a maintainance2x a day in addition to singulair, symbicort, allergy shots every week for about a year now, 2 allergy meds and maxair as needed
( i usually need it nearly everyday) still my asthma is crap, i've just learned to so what i can do and now fight to do what i can't. am rarely able to exercise without asthma symptoms/attacks. i basically have mno life but i just do what i can do if i start to have asthma symptoms i quit doing whatever i'm doing because i go from green to red really fast.
