Chemical inhale & rod up nose

So I went to my pulmonary doctor today and got another lung function test done. The results to this one and the one I had three months ago show the same problem.

Instead of getting a nice deep breathe in, the patten of mine goes in a bit but then jumps up and down a little bit. My exhale is fine.

I will be having a lung function test again but the amount of times I have to blow into the machine will be more and between each time I'll be breathing in a chemical/sugar which irritates the lungs.
I have a hard enough time breathing as it is without something making it worse.

Has anyone else had this done? If so what was it like? And what can be found from this?

This is the procedure that should worry me more - having a rod put up my nose and down my throat a little to have my airway looked at to check for narrowing and something blocking a part of the airway.

Again has anyone else had this done? What was it like? I think this will freak me right out.

" My daughter had both. She did not enjoy the nose tube, but just don't eat a big meal before going....it was thin, gaggy but not so awful.

I did the tube just to look in sinuses...it burnt a bit...or that is how it felt, but once it was done, there was no after effects. Just try to stay calm and breathe deep from the belly (yoga style)...I count to stay focused. 3 in, 3 out, 3 in, 3 out.

the breathing tests seem so stupid to me.( I know they are necessary, just the make me crazy)..she had so many problems and they would do the capacity tests over and over until it set off a full blown attack...then, one idiot doctor said, "just hold your breath a moment so I can.."..blah blah blah... Stupid woman. An intern with no idea what she was doing....not the time to find this out.

I would go over exactly what they are going to do to treat your asthma as they are bringing on an attack...and make sure you feel safe with their answers...no newbie nurses or doctors....someone with experience. I would be demanding in this case...so you feel safe. It did not change much on her medications.
Oh, and little kids and sick people get feeding tubes that stay there so they can't be so horrible, can they? "
