Any advice on bronchitis?

Hi. I've had recurrent chest infections all my life and asthma was diagnosed age 16. I'm now getting bronchitis three times a year and it knocks me for six every time I get it. Usually it takes a month to settle, and for two weeks or more every time I can't make the stairs and feel a terrible weakness in my legs. I also have a lot more pain in my chest.

My Dr. thinks I have an area of bronchiecstasis which makes things worse, but at 44, non-smoker and a former runner it's getting me down. I can't even play my flute! So, does anyone identify with this? Are my lungs weakening over time? My PF had dropped from 520 to 420 and right now it's 380. I'm taking Clenil Modulite, Ventolin and Amoxill 500 mg tds at the moment.

" I don't have this myself but you must have Chronic bronchitis. With this you will get reoccurrences of this respiratory problem. Having asthma would make it worse. :/

I think If bronchitis lasts more than it's suppost to, it may mean there is a lung disorder but also bronchitis can cause the lung disorder as it can damage the lungs.

Yeah, it's a shame that even when you do everything right you can still get a problem.

Simple things like air pollution and allergies can aggravate the bronchitis further. "

" I would suggest going to hospital. They can give you great care there for this. "

" I feel for your bronchitis & lung function. I had bronchitis last november, & for first time ragweed pollen dropped my lung function to 73%. It was 100% in February.
I'm having a terrible time clearing my lungs on prednisone, advair, & nebulizer, and musinex. Anyone have suggestions.
I wonder if I should have lung disorder. "
