Albuterol vs ProAir

I know they have taken albuterol inhalers off the market. I was recently on a site where over a thousand people signed a petition and wrote a note...Albuterol works...ProAir has ethanol in it and is making some peoples lungs burn. When you go to the doctor for a refill...as for something that does not have ethanol in it...we do not need it in our lungs. We cannot breath the way it is

" I found this:
http://www.fda.gov/bbs/transcripts...

It requires Adobe Reader to view.

This transcript of a National Institute for Health presentation on the new formulation banning CFC's in albuterol inhalers is interesting. It is a bit difficult to get through, however, since the person transcribing obviously did not have an "ear" for an Indian accent... lots of *(unintelligible)* comments... Good info, though. "

" I was switched from an albuteral inhaler to proair and I don't like it because proair seems a hell of a lot weaker than my albuterol inhaler was. It doesn't make my lungs burn or anything, it just feels as if it doesn't do anything for me. "

" Over the last couple of years I have been on Albuterol, Ventlion, Combivent, Proventilion, and Proair inhalers. I have found all of them to work except proair. Proair takes more pumping and more spraying than I am use to and want to use. I have also noticed the burinig when using the Proair. My only problem is I have to get the Proair because it is cheaper than the combivent and like alot of people I am not working and can not afford the combivent every time I need it. "

" I knew that they were taking Albuterol off the market and they also took Advair off the market as well. I think as many have said it is because of the O-zone, I think it because the makers of these drugs don't want a generic version out there that is taking their business, who really knows. My doctor switched me to Proventil HFA and Advair HFA. They are "safe" for the O-zone. I've never even heard of this other one. As far as the Abuterol for the nebulizer goes that is a mist that comes from the air from a machine, not from an inhaler, so I think that one is safe and will not change. Not to mention I just had mine refilled and there was no change. "

" I definitely noticed a difference when I got the pro air inhaler vs that original albuteral. I was trying to take more puffs to make it work. Albuteral helped me with one....I don't know if anyone else experienced that. "
