hey guys so i developed asthma maybe 8 months or so ago or at least diagnosed then so I'm really not used to any of the feelings when it happens and crap. I went to the er on the 21st of october from a severe attack & the past two nights, around 2am I have started wheezing like crazy, my inhaler isn't working and at those times going to the er wasn't an option so I had to pretty much wait it out, an hour this morning and the wheezing turns into a cough which makes it harder and my chest tightens and this morning i threw up twice during it so if this happens again do you guys think the er is the best option, I can't go see my doctor because I'm not in that state. I hope this makes sense, i'm rambling, please helpthough? thank you all who respond

First, you need need to get a local doctor, preferably a pulmonologist, asap! Get a referral immediately.
Once you have a local doctor, demand an immediate appointment and discuss preventive and rescue medications. Also discuss a nebulizer for at-home use in these situations. This is not something you can mange on your own and relying on the ER is not solution. You need to take control and be your own advocate.

HI I have had asthma for 23 years, severely so. You need to get a local MD and then set up an action plan. Sounds like you should have definitely gone to the ER especially if your inhaler did not help you. See if your doctor, or a new one, especially a pulmonologist, can set you up with home nebulizer treatments. You don't mention if you are taking Unidur or Theodur or steroids. Or if you have severe allergies you can try over the counter benadryl generic to help with any possible allergy flare ups. But when you get that bad, DON'T WAIT more than a couple of hours. YOu need to be seen ASAP

Get HELP ASAP these are severe attacks and if you are not breathing correctly or at a certain rate they usually keep and give you brething treatments. See if your primary care doctor can refer you to a doctor in your location a pulmonologist .Do you have allergies or chronic bronchitis along with the asthma? If you don't know you need to find out. My asthma comes from severe allergies.

one way or another you definetly need to call your doctor. In all honesty you need to go see them. If it happens duing off buisness hours yes you need to go to er and or call 911 f you dont think you can make it. We dont mind going to check you out any time of the day or night and let you know if you need to go to the er by us the ambulance or if you can make it in your own vehicle. It sounds like you need some prednisone to get you under control. Good luck!

advair has been the one true and saving grace of a drug that has helped me so very much. i would get pneumonia like 4 times a year until i started advair. discuss it with your or any doctor, it may save your life. p.s. rescue inhalers are not to be used more than prescribed, so if you're hitting it more than recommended, you need another way to controll your breathing
